    Admission to the MSN-EL program is competitive. Applicants are considered based on the following: 

    • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license 

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (or equivalent) 

    • A minimum GPA of 3.0 (preferred; applicants below this threshold may provide a statement of explanation)

    • Proficiency in English (TOEFL required for international students with a minimum score of 100)

    Application fees are payable to Nursing’s Centralized Application Service (NursingCAS). Samuel Merritt University does not charge an additional admission fee. 

    Application Fee = $80  

    Non-Refundable Deposits and Fees 
    Students offered admission pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $350 to secure their seat in the class. Application fees and tuition deposits are non-refundable, whether or not the student withdraws in the first week of the term.

    You must also have access to a personal computer and basic computer skills to use and navigate the university’s course management system, Canvas.

    While the MSN-EL program does not include traditional clinical rotations, it offers a local Leadership Practicum that provides hands-on experience in leadership roles within healthcare settings.This practicum allows you to apply theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios.

    The Professional Role, Ethics, & Leadership course explores the ethical principles that guide decision-making in complex healthcare environments. You’ll learn to navigate challenging situations while upholding professional standards and promoting organizational integrity.
