SMU Named one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs
Samuel Merritt University (SMU) has been named one of the “Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs” by the American College Personnel Association and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
SMU was chosen for the national recognition for its workplace diversity, staffing practices, and work environment. In surveying universities across the country, attention was paid to friendliness, salary and benefits, and professional development opportunities.
“It is an honor for us to be recognized as having a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment in student services that contributes to the learning and development of our students,” said Terry Nordstrom, PhD, SMU’s vice president of Enrollment and Student Services.
“As one of 20 colleges and universities in the country that received this award, I am proud of the staff members in our division for the meaningful work they do every day that contributes to student success in our rigorous programs,” he said.
The list of the 20 most promising places to work in student affairs will be published in the March 7 magazine of Diverse: Issues In Higher Education. The winners will also be presented during the American College Personnel Association annual meeting taking place March 3-6 in Boston.
