Samuel Merritt University’s Doctoral Nursing Program (DNP) is among this year’s 8 Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to DNP Programs in California, according to NursingProcess.org.

The DNP program, taught in a hybrid format, received high marks for academic quality, including acceptance rates, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratios, and retention rates. From 2015-19, 100% of DNP graduates were employed within six months.

The University was also praised for its overall reputation, affordability, flexible schedule to support both full-time and part-time working nurses as well as a strong patient-centered curriculum.

NursingProcess.org spotlighted the program’s flexibility for welcoming RNs with a bachelor's degree to enroll and earn a Family Nurse Practitioner master’s degree at the same time.

The need for DNPs is expected to grow by 45% in the next 10 years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The median DNP salary is $117,000 annually.
