College of Podiatric Medicine Leadership Update

After 28 years of dedicated service, Dr. Eric Stamps, DPM ’93, Dean of the Samuel Merritt University College of Podiatric Medicine (SMU CPM), has returned to clinical practice. With his transition from SMU, he will pursue his passion for supporting the community through clinical practice, serving patients with the San Francisco Public Health Department.

Dr. Mark Razzante, a 2012 graduate of the California School of Podiatric Medicine and a faculty member since 2015, will serve as Interim Dean of the College of Podiatric Medicine while a national search is conducted to find a permanent replacement.

“As we move forward, we are proud to preserve and build upon the SMU College of Podiatric Medicine’s 110-year legacy as one of the nation’s leading institutions in podiatric education. Our foundation remains strong and enduring, and while leadership may evolve, our commitment to excellence and innovation is unwavering. The College of Podiatric Medicine is here to stay as we transition to a new campus in downtown Oakland, continuing the same dedication to advancing the field and preparing outstanding podiatric residents and doctors,” said President Ching-Hua Wang.
