About Me
Hello ~
I have been a nurse for 28 years and have had a long educational journey! Nursing is a second career for me. I graduated in 1991 and worked in critical care (IMCU/CCU) at the bedside for 10 years, after which I became the nurse manager of the unit. After 2 years of management, I left the bedside to join a large cardiology practice as the head nurse and to complete my online RN-BSN degree at Drexel University. I graduated in 2003 and decided to continue my education in the ACNP program at Drexel. I graduated in 2006 and started working at a large hospital-owned cardiology practice as an ACNP. In 2007 I began working as an adjunct professor for the ACNP program in addition to my full time job. In 2009, I joined Drexel as full time faculty. I also continued working as a cardiology NP for a colleague in private practice in order to maintain my credentials.
In 2011, I began my quest of a doctorate in education at Walden University. I completed my dissertation on Simulation Debriefing and graduated in 2014 with a doctorate in Higher Education and Adult Learning. In 2015 my husband decided to take early retirement and we relocated from the east coast to Henderson, NV. I have been teaching for 15 years and have taught online (asynchronous, hybrid), as well as F2F at the RN-BSN, BSN, and graduate levels. I joined SMU in 2016 and absolutely love teaching!
