About Me
Nancy Symons is an adjunct faculty member of Samuel Merritt University in the RN to BSN program in the SMU School of Nursing. She received formal teacher trainings in both Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) through the UC San Diego Center For Mindfulness as well as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) led by Jon Kabat-Zinn. For 12 years she also provided palliative care services to the seriously ill and their caregivers in her capacity as chaplain, and later Executive Director, of Partners in Care in El Dorado County. In those capacities she interwove mindfulness practice for both patients and health care staff to better cope with the impact of serious illness.
