About Me

Jan Attard is a practicing nurse of 40 years first in Oncology and during the past 20 years Mother Baby and Transition acute care Maternity Infant Nursing at Alta Bates in Berkeley, CA. Jan is passionate about providing exceptional care via the Nursing Process to patients insuring service excellence to leave a lasting impression of competence and care with families she serves. Jan mentors Nursing students in the OB setting sharing her vast background in nursing. 

Jan acts as Consultant/Risk Reviewer for Medical Malpractice Cases special emphasis in Quality Assurance Review and Risk Management. Jan's background includes analyzing and preparing Case Briefs, Points & Authorities and Charts for Court Preparation. Jan was former Vice President Risk Management CFS Insurance, Tiburon, CA., Director of Risk Management, Merritt Hospital, Oakland (Summit Medical Center) and Lecturer for Contemporary Forums in Risk Prevention in Health Care. Jan enjoys proactive risk management interfacing with loss prevention and mentoring greatness in patient care.

Education

Jan completed her undergraduate studies with a degree from Georgetown University, Washington, DC BSN in Nursing 1978. Jan attended Golden Gate University Law School (1986) and Concord Law School, Los Angeles, California (2012) with a focus on Health Care Risk Management/Law. Jan completed MBA focus on Health Care and Entrepreneurship (2010). Jan obtained RNC Mother Baby Certification 2018, Lactation Certification (2015) and Massage Therapy Certification 1998.
