Fiedler, ’82, an estate planning attorney and registered nurse, will discuss essential estate planning documents and the strategies that healthcare workers (and their families) can utilize as you plan for your financial future, retirement, and giving to loved ones and charities through your estate. Then Cynthia Wilkinson, CPA, will reveal the tax implications of current laws and share useful strategies related to retirement planning and appreciated assets, and how to avoid the biggest issues that can arise.
Julie M. Fiedler, ’82, RN, JD, LLM Elder Law
Based in San Ramon, attorney and Samuel Merritt University alumna Julie M. Fiedler is a Registered Nurse and Certified Elder Law Attorney with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and 20 years in legal services. Her background as a critical care nurse and elder law and estate planning attorney gives her a unique perspective on helping clients meet their estate planning goals. Julie is past President of the Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and has also served on the Board of Directors for NAELA. She is actively involved in the certification of elder law attorneys with the National Elder Law Foundation. Julie has taught continuing education classes for healthcare providers, is a frequent lecturer for Bay Area Hospice, and has spoken to numerous civic organizations.
Cynthia A. Wilkinson, CPA, MS Taxation
An independent Certified Public Accountant based in San Ramon, Cynthia Wilkinson earned her BS in Accounting and MS in Taxation from Cal State East Bay. She has served on the boards of both the Tri-Valley Business and Estate Planning Council and the Tri-Valley Business Women's Network. Cynthia helps clients maximize benefits for themselves and their heirs and offers a complete range of accounting and tax planning services, including tax returns for estates and trusts, and gift tax returns. A San Francisco Bay Area native, she has a strong commitment to serving the local community.
