Hypertension & Wellness Sunday
This signature EHI event, named in honor of its co-founder Dr. Frank E. Staggers Sr., started more than 25 years ago in celebration of National Heart Health Awareness and Black History month. Now a collaboration between EHI’s Health Ministry Network and Samuel Merritt University, we aim to educate communities of color about the risks of high blood pressure and help them learn whether they are showing signs of hypertension — often called the “silent killer” because people can have it for years without symptoms — which can lead to serious health problems like heart attack and stroke. Over the years, thousands of congregants and community members in the Bay Area and beyond have been screened, educated, and empowered.
