Lindsey McClenahan Selected as Vice President of Advancement and Communications at Samuel Merritt University

Samuel Merritt University is pleased to announce the appointment of Lindsey McClenahan as the new Vice President of Advancement and Communications, effective August 19, 2024. 

Lindsey McClenahan joins SMU with more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit and higher education fundraising. Her expertise in campaign management and principal gifts will be instrumental in advancing the university’s mission and goals. Lindsey is known for her ability to build resilient relationships between donors and organizations and her success in engaging and empowering volunteer leaders, staff, and faculty. 

In her new role, Lindsey will lead the university’s capital and comprehensive campaigns, advance major giving programs, and work to increase donor retention and satisfaction. She will also play a critical role in enhancing alumni engagement at SMU.

Prior to joining Samuel Merritt University, Lindsey served as the Vice President of Development at the University of San Francisco. In this role, she directed and executed fundraising initiatives that supported the university’s mission and vision. Her previous experience includes significant fundraising roles at the American Red Cross and the San Francisco Symphony.

Lindsey’s academic background in History and International Studies informs her strong commitment to social justice and human rights issues, further enhancing her approach in the field of advancement.
