About Me

Stacy Springer is the Lead Assistive Technology Specialist for Oakland Unified School District in Oakland, CA.  Stacy has She received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Assistive Technology Practitioner certificate from Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).
She has been working with students with disabilities for nearly 20 years when she started her career in Special Education as a Preschool Special Education Teacher for children with multiple and complex disabilities. Since then she has worked in a variety of school-based settings, both private and public, as a Special Education Teacher, Occupational Therapist, and Assistive Technology Specialist.

Stacy has provided Assistive Technology services at the local education and state education agency level, including previously at the South Carolina Department of Education, providing support, training, and guidance for formation of AT teams, procedural and policy development, and student level AT consultation.  She has provided technical assistance to SC Teams for Early Childhood Solutions (TECS) for development of Assistive Technology processes and policy.  Stacy holds past University academic appointments at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel).
